If you use the internet, you have probably encountered PDF files. According to Adobe, there were over 250 million PDF files available on the internet as of January 2010. PDF stands for Portable Document Format. These files can be viewed, saved and printed using Adobe Reader. Adobe Reader 9 is a free software program that is available directly from Adobe’s website or from a licensed distributor. Adobe Reader 9 is a version of Adobe that was released in July 2008.
- Visit adobe.com.
- Place your cursor over the “Downloads” menu at the top of the screen, and select “Get Adobe Reader” from the drop down menu that appears.
- Select “Download” if Adobe Reader 9 is listed as the version of Adobe Reader available for download on this page. If a different version of Adobe Reader is listed, then continue to the next step. (This page allows you to automatically download the most recent version of Adobe Reader, so if a newer version of Adobe Reader is available you will need to continue to the next step to download Adobe Reader 9.)
- Click on the link titled “Learn More.” This link is located right above the “Download” button.
- Click on the link titled “Obtaining older versions of Adobe Reader,” located under the heading “Enterprise.”
- Select your computer’s operating system and your language from the drop down menus, and press “Continue.”
- Click on the circle immediately to the left of “Adobe Reader 9″ to select this version of Adobe Reader.
- Press “Download Now.”
